Dr Lawrence Gobetz

Dr. Lawrence Gobetz received his medical training in South Africa. Qualified as a Medical Doctor in 1980 University of Pretoria. He is a Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists since 1989 and is recognised by the South African Health Professions Council as a reproductive medicine specialist. Dr. Gobetz is one of the medical directors at Vitalab, a SASREG accredited fertility centre, since February 1990. His role in Hysteroscopy in South Africa commenced in 1981 prior to availability of Surgical Cameras and Stacks.
Dr. Gobetz’s interest includes the surgical management of uterine pathology affecting the reproduction potential of females, recurrent pregnancy loss, PCOS, endometriosis, and male infertility. He is part of the Hysteroscopy Group advocating for Gynaecologists to stop doing blind D&C’s. He is one of the pioneers of Hysteroscopic surgery in South Africa and has always advocated Hysteroscopy utilising mechanical methods to treat uterine pathology.
Dr. Gobetz is also a surgical mentor for Medtronic, helping to improve the availability of uterine surgery globally.
Dr Stephan Volschenk
MBChB (Pret) Cum Laude MMed O&G (Pret) Cum Laude F.C.O.G. (S.A.) with Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Stephan Volschenk received his medical training in South Africa. He is a fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa, and is recognised by the South African Health Professions Council as a reproductive medicine specialist.
Dr. Volschenk is a dedicated reproductive medicine specialist at Vitalab with more than 19 years of experience in the management of all aspects regarding the infertile couple.
Dr Chris Venter
MBChB, MMed O&G, FCOG(SA) with Reproductive Medicine
Dr Chris Venter completed his pre-and post-graduate studies at the University of Pretoria 1994 and 2002 respectively. After qualifying he did a preceptorship in Endoscopic Surgery at Leuven University in Belgium, under the mentorship of Prof Phillippe Koninckx.
He practiced for 12 years as general Obstetrician in the private sector, before deciding to sub-specialize in Reproductive Medicine. He completed his Fellowship Training at the University of Stellenbosch under the mentorship of Prof Thinus Kruger. During this period, his research was aimed at looking at the role of pre-genetic screening in embryo selection.
He joined the Vitalab Reproductive Centre in 2013. He specializes in all aspects of infertility care. His clinical interest is in Recurrent Implantation Failure and the role that Endometrial Receptivity plays. He is an Associated Lecturer at the University of the Free State, serves on both the editorial board of the Endocrinology International Journal and SASREG executive board, since 2014. His personal interest is in raising awareness for Oncofertility in South Africa.
Dr Yossi Unterslak
M.B.,Ch.B. (Pret.), F.C.O.G.(S.A.), M.Med.(O & G)
Dr. Unterslak completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pretoria, South Africa; and went on to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Further to this, Dr. Unterslak also completed his Masters of Medicine during which he extensively looked at the prevention of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
Dr. Unterslak joined Vitalab in 2015 and has been comprehensively trained by the reproductive medicine specialists at Vitalab. Between 2017 and 2020 Dr Unterslak served on the board of SASREG (South African Society of Reproductive Medicine and Endoscopic Gynaecology).
Dr. Unterslak has a passion for reproductive medicine with a special interest in the prevention of recurrent miscarriages and infertility related to sexual dysfunction.
Dr Anthony Picton
BSc (Wits), MBBCh (Wits), MMed O&G (UFS)
Dr. Anthony J. Picton has completed 3 degrees at 2 Universities in South Africa. BSc (with distinction) in 1997 and MBBCh in 2001, both at University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and Masters in Medicine (O&G) at the University of the Free State (UFS).
For the past 7 years, Dr. Picton has focused on treating patients with infertility, a history of poor pregnancy outcomes and endometriosis.
To these ends, Dr. Picton has attained ESGE (European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy) Level 1 (2016) and Level 2 (2017) accreditation in addition to attending local and international training sessions.
He has a keen interest in gynaecological endoscopic surgery, the optimization of ovarian response to stimulation and in the improvement of successful pregnancy outcomes.

Dr J L (Kobus) Coetsee

Dr Kobus Coetsee graduated from the University of Pretoria. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was awarded his MBChB degree in 1989 and his post-graduate degree, FCOG (SA), MMed (O&G), in 1995. He completed further post-graduate studies through Stellenbosch University, studying under world renowned Prof. Thinus Kruger. Dr Coetsee was awarded a Certificate in Reproductive Studies by the College of Medicine of South Africa in 2013. He has been in private practice, based in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal since 2000. Dr Coetsee specialises in Reproductive Medicine, Minimal Invasive Surgery, Endocrinology and Osteoporosis. He is also a member of the following organisations: SASOG, GMG, SASREG, HPCSA
Dr Noluyolo (Yoks) Sigcu
MBChB (UNITRA), FCOG (SA), Cert Rep Med (SA)
Dr Noluyolo Sigcu specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCT FCOG 2005.
Trained in Reproductive Medicine at Groote Schuur hospital and obtained her certificate in 2016.
She is passionate about finding solutions to infertility issues and believes ” there is always a way to reach your goals the only question is how far you are willing to go”.

Dr Skye de Jongh
MBChB. (Pret.) Cum Laude, F.C.O.G.(S.A.), M.Med.(O & G)
Dr. Skye completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pretoria, South Africa; and went on to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. In addition, Dr. Skye completed her Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, during which she investigated the success rates and indications for GIFT and ZIFT.
While completing her Masters, Dr. Skye spent time at Vitalab, learning the ropes from our world class reproductive medicine specialists, after which she joined the team. Dr. Skye is passionate about reproductive medicine and has a special interest in polycystic ovarian syndrome, mullerian abnormalities and reproductive genetic disorders. She is passionate about making a difference to patients suffering from fertility problems.
