About Vitalab

Vitalab is a Johannesburg based fertility clinic that has been committed to helping couples build families since 1984. We have pioneered a wholesome approach to fertility, supporting our patients medically, physically and emotionally. Our doctors are registered reproductive specialists with the South African Medical and Dental Council and have a collective experience of over 150 years. We do everything in our power to ensure that you arrive as a patient and leave as a parent. We understand that infertility is one of life’s most difficult challenges, but we have a state of the art facility with experienced doctors and staff that will help you through your fertility journey.

Treatment Options

We begin with structured and co-ordinated series of investigations for both partners to understand what the cause of the infertility is. Once that is established we work closely with you to develop an individualised holistic treatment plan in order to achieve your family dream in the shortest time possible.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) – Is when the egg and sperm are fertilized outside the body by facilitating embryo development in a laboratory. The embryo is then transferred into the uterus to hopefully implant and become a pregnancy. IVF patients only need to be in South Africa for 2 to 3 weeks.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) – Is the injection of a single selected sperm into a mature harvested egg. ICSI is performed as part of the IVF procedure if deemed necessary by the doctor.

Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) – Aims to test embryos for chromosome abnormalities, such as trisomy 21, which causes Down syndrome and many others that cause implantation failure and miscarriage.

Egg/Sperm donor – If you are needing an egg or sperm donor, Vitalab will help you during every phase of the process, so that you can make an informed decision and choose the right donor for you. Vitalab also has an in-house egg bank so you can pick from donors who have already had rigorous screening therefore, ensuring the eggs received have the optimal chance of success.

How to reach us

Your first step is to get in touch with us to set up a consultation with one of our specialist doctors. This can be done over skype or a phone call. Please call our clinic on +27 (0) 11 911 4700 or email us at info@vitalab.com. Before this meeting takes place, you will need to submit a detailed history questionnaire, patient detail forms, get a copy of your medical records, surgeries and list of medications that you are currently taking so our doctor can get a full understanding of your case. You can fax or email these documents through to us.

For international patients, Vitalab specialists will work in conjunction with your local OBGYN doctor so that your time spent in South Africa is kept to a minimum and your experience as simple and uncomplicated as possible. In addition, we are more than happy to help you with both accommodation and language requirements – if you advise us in advance, we’ll arrange a hotel for you that is close to Vitalab and ensure that language barriers are no problem when you see our physicians.

If you are looking for a fertility specialist, Vitalab and our dedicated industry leading team are here and willing to provide you with the best medical care the industry has to offer.
